Where to stay on Milos, Greece

Milos island, Greece: where to stay?

Which area(s) should you stay at when visiting Milos? Below are the options for you on where to stay on Milos, Greece. Including my personal reasoning about why you could want to stay there.

Of course if you are looking for any type accommodation in Milos, you can of course look on the island’s pages on Booking.com and Airbnb. But I will highlight a few accommodations per settlement as well.

Since Milos is very popular, I advise you to book your accommodation at least 3 to 6 months in advance. Otherwise, everything that is good value for money or very special, will be booked.  Generally speaking, the lowest prices are between € 50 – €100 per night but can go up to hundreds of euros per night.

Adamas / Adamantas

Adamas / Adamantas is the port of Milos and is the best gateway to all the parts of the island. So if you want to tour heavily and explore every side of it, this is your place to go. Also, the more affordable accommodations are located here, because lots of them already existed before the island got so popular. After Plaka and Trypiti, most ‘life’ is to be found in Adamas, alongside the harborfront & boulevard. There are many restaurants, bakeries, mini-markets and some bars to choose from.

Budget options

Tzoka’s Apartments would be my absolute recommendation: it is about a 10- to 15-minute walk from the center of Adamantas and a 5-minute walk from Papikinou beach and O! Hamos! taverna. With 35m2 the apartments have enough space which is great. They allow self-catering, sleep 3 people, are renovated, extremely clean and quiet as well. And therefore, in my opinion, the best value for money.

Other budget options near Tzoka’s could be Anamnisi Studio or Anita Rooms & Apartments. If you want to stay right in the center of Adamantas and not pay a large sum of money, Semiramis Guesthouse is your go-to.

Luxury options

Boho Sapiens offers luxury accommodations with amazing port and sea views. Their rooms are listed separately on Booking.com: Blue Perlite, Cinnamon Era, Romantic Cave, Seagnature and Royal Suite. Another such accommodation, but right on the harbor front, is Magma Milos: Studios II, Studios III, Apartment.

Casa Polivos is another great option because it sleeps 5 and looks out on Lagada beach. So, in the end, it is a very good deal considering you can house your whole family here.

Finally, if you want something with a private pool, check out Uncle’s House Luxury Pool. It is also very close to Lagada beach and Adamantas center, so location-wise there is nothing more you could want.

Plaka / Trypiti / Triovasalos

Plaka is the capital of Milos and is conglomerated together with its surrounding villages such as Trypiti and Triovasalos. Milos is not really a vibrant island in terms of nightlife, since there aren’t many cozy squares with lots of bars and restaurants clotted together. But, the most vibrant place of them all is Plaka. So this is your go-to if you like food and drinks with a view or in whitewashed streets. All around the area, you can find different types of accommodation in different price ranges.

Luxury option

If you are not on a very strict budget I can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Eiriana Luxury Suites. Compared to some other hotels in Milos, they are really good value for money. They have a parking area for guests, beautiful suites and a shared pool with an amazing view. Some of the suites have a jacuzzi as well. Within 2 minutes you are in the street of Trypiti where all the restaurants are located, and you can easily walk to Plaka as well.

Budget options

More budget-friendly options in this area Studio Vipera and Frankie’s Traditional House.

Pollonia

This is the place to be for luxury lovers. The quiet seaside town has been turned into a paradise for those who are looking for a seafront accommodation with a private pool or jacuzzi. Because of the layout of the coast, most accommodations look like they have a private piece of beach as well, although mostly the access through the water is via large, flat rocks. Still idyllic and with all facilities such as restaurants, bakeries and mini markets nearby.

Budget options
The fact that Pollonia is full of luxury accommodations, doesn’t mean that you can not find a nice renovated place for a good price. Check out
Pagona Studios for instance, which is affordable, super modern and so close to the beach!

Luxury options
Would you like to have a private jacuzzi for a relatively affordable price? Then
Milos Swell Suites might be the place for you. If ultimate luxury is what you’re looking for, to me the most impressive accommodation is White Pebble Suites. It is seafront and the aesthetics and view are to die for. In addition to the shared pool, most suites have a private plunge pool as well.

South of Milos

If you want a quiet beach holiday right on one of the gorgeous, long sandy beaches of Milos, with crystal clear blue waters, stay in the south of Milos. For instance at Paleochori, Agya Kyriaki or Provatas. It will still just be a 15- to 20-minute drive to Adamantas.

Syrmata

Staying in a traditional boathouse (a syrma) might be a bucket list thing for you while staying in Milos. You can find these former sheds for storing boats in Skinopi, Klima, Areti, Fourkovouni, Firopotamos, Mandrakia, Mytakas and Pachaina.

Klima is the most famous, but if you stay there you won’t have space to sit outside your syrma as there will be hordes of tourists walking by and taking pictures. So I advise against this.

To me, the best places for staying a few days are Firopotamos or Fourkovouni. Firopotamos because it has a larger beach, Fourkouvouni because it is less well-kown, very peaceful, with a little beach and amongst the most picturesque of these villages.

You have to understand though, that even though they might look like little boutique hotels, they are in fact houses on the beach that had never been connected to collective water and electricity supplies. They found great solutions for this so everything you need is there, but keep in mind that there might be just a few restrictions that the owner will 100% inform you about. For instance: you have to watch the sea water level when ferries pass by if you have the doors open, as they can create waves.

I have a full list of available syrmata including price index, but let me highlight 4 of them that I really like here:

  • Syrma Capt Nikolas I & II in Fourkovouni. I actually stayed here. I think Fourkovouni is stunning and secluded and it has it all: the picturesqueness and a beach to chill on.
  • The Cove Beach House in Fourkouvouni. Same reason.
  • Aqua House in Pachaina, because you feel like you are alone at the end of the world.
  • Blue Intenso Boathouse in Firopotamos, because it is right on a larger beach.
